Car travel in Southern California:
On Fridays all freeways experience impacted traffic. From Los Angeles, allow 1.75 hours to drive east to Riverside from downtown LA when you depart between 7am and 9am. From 12:30 pm onward, allow 3 hours for the drive to Riverside when you depart from the West Side and points eastward.
On Saturdays freeways are generally less crowded. From Los Angeles, allow 2 hours to drive east to Riverside from downtown LA when you depart after 8am.
From San Diego and Santa Barbara, add at least an hour to usual and customary driving times for Friday and Saturday travel to Riverside.
Parking at UC Riverside
The conference venue is the CHASS INTS BUILDING (Interdisciplinary Building South) and ARTS 166 (room 166, or the Performance Lab, in the Arts Building.)
The best place to park is Lot 1, directly across the street from the Arts Building, on Campus Drive.
Once you turn onto Campus Drive from University Avenue, at the traffic signal, drive forward to the kiosk on Campus Drive and purchase parking. Request Lot 1. Allow 10-15 minutes to flow through the parking kiosk and park your car.
Once parked, cross the street to the Arts Building. Next to the loading dock on the left, you’ll see a raked walkway that leads gently up and into the ground floor plaza area of the Arts Building. Take that walkway. Once you reach the plaza area, you’ll see room 166/the Performance Lab diagonally to your right. To reach the INTS Building, walk forward across the lawn for 30 seconds.
